Purpose:

in coordinating and directing the workload of the Service Department for maximum efficiency and productivity while providing quality repair work to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Advises the Branch Service Manager with information regarding technician skills and training needs, facility resources and department issues.

Performance Expectations:

Independently performs diagnostic evaluations and determines what repairs are required, if needed

Performs equipment repairs as directed by the Branch Service Manager

Mentors Service Technicians and directs and assists in the diagnosis of machine problems with technicians and apprentices

Successfully completes all required job-related training and development

Effectively utilizes company technologies such as Service Advisor and PM Pro during day to day operations

Independently creates DTAC/CCMS cases and follows up with Deere support as needed

Upon completion of job, prepares and submits completed tech reports and warranty forms

Assist in maintaining all company tools, equipment and vehicles in good working order and recommends new equipment

Adheres to all company workplace safety guidelines and policies and ensures Service Department safety compliance

Maintains a clean work shop and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion

Maintains open communication with Branch Service Manager

Assists with assigning jobs and work areas to Service Department employees according to their abilities and availability

Assists in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the Service Department

Advises Branch Service Manager of all customer complaints

Assists in coordinating and delivering in-house training

May fill in for the Branch Service Manager or Service Administrator in their absence

Will inspect and approve all customer repair work and internal work as necessary

May assist in providing discipline or performance feedback for service technicians with the Branch Service Manager

Assists in developing and implementing customer clinics, field days and related promotional events

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:

Associates degree or equivalent experience required

5 years of experience as a Service Technician

Owns necessary tools and equipment to successfully and efficiently complete assigned jobs

Expert knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of customer and dealer owned equipment including Service Advisor and basic computer functions

Maintains Master Service Technician Certification through JDU

Excellent skills in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes

Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays

Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office, email and internet functions

Neat and clean personal appearance (in accordance with company policy)

Exhibits necessary skills to effectively work in a fast paced environment

Exhibits strong desire to expand personal development

Maintains confidentiality with employee situations and escalates to the Service Manager or Human Resources as needed

Ability to work within and promote a strong team environment across all departments

Achieves and maintains forklift certification

Exhibits a willingness to accept additional assignments

Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly

Ability to travel for customer service and training as needed

Clean drivers record and valid New York State Driver License
